Emotionally Healthy Spirituality

Ever feel the tension of doing for God without a foundation of being with God?
Do you desire an "experience of lasting, beneath-the-surface transformation and
growth in your relationship with Christ"?

This fall, we have the opportunity to not only learn principles but enter into practices that will
impact us deeply as Christ-followers. Don't let this season pass you by!

There are a few different ways to engage this material this fall and at different levels - you're invited to any and all!

Sunday Sermon Series

Beginning Sunday morning, September 16, Pastor Scott Dement will be preaching an 8-week sermon series entitled "Beauty Beneath" - an under-the-surface look at the correlation between emotional health and spiritual maturity. This series will reflect the themes of Peter Scazzero's book Emotionally Healthy Spirituality.

Life Groups

Our adult Life Groups this fall begin the week of September 16 and go through November 11. We'll be utilizing the Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day book - "A 40-Day Journey with the Daily Office."

This daily devotional guide provides the structure to meet with God, twice a day, 5 days a week, as the core practice of spiritual health and maturity. Then, gathering in groups once a week, we'll discuss some basic questions of reflection:

  • How did you experience the moments of silence & stillness this week?
  • Which "Question(s) to Consider" were especially meaningful for you?
  • How do you sense God coming to you these days?

Discipleship Hour Class

Beginning Sunday, September 16, we begin an 8-week discipleship hour class exploring the principles of discipleship in Peter Scazzero's book Emotionally Healthy Spirituality

Convinced that "it's impossible to be spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature", Scazzero offers a pathway to recognizing the larger part of the "iceberg" of our spiritual identity and health. In doing so, we can experience a more healthily and vibrant life in Christ and the world. Join us on Sundays at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary!

Participants in this class are encouraged to purchase the book online. A course workbook is also available for deeper consideration. However, the class will not be dependent upon reading the book - chapter contents will be presented and discussed in the class and can be followed along without having read.
